Hello Bill,
Thank you for responding to my other questions this weekend. After some tweaking to the code from the GCode Generator and running filament back in forth in the PTFE tubes to loosen them up a bit, I have successfully loaded the filament into the extruder. However, when trying to retract the filament after the tip is formed, the diameter of the tip is now too large to pull back through the PTFE tubes. I increased the extruder temperature to 220 hoping that might help but no luck, still can't pull it back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I want to be clear... it needs to be replaced with the 1.8mm tube... not the 2mm tube, correct? Can you post some pictures of your tips? Also, some pictures of where it's jamming in the Y adapter. Lastly, what do the ends of the PTFE tubes look like in the top of the Y adapter... if they're deformed, then the filament might jam being pulled out. They need to be clean cut with the straight razor and optionally flared on the inside... and most importantly, seated all the way into the pockets for the tubes in the Y adapter below the PTFE connector (for proper alignment.)
Ok... the easiest way is to use our 1.8mm PTFE tube and allow the filament to cool inside it, while keeping it moving. Normally, there is a short distance where PTFE can be used as close to the hot end as possible... if it's an all metal hot end, then you need to use it just before the hot end, but if it's PTFE lined, then it can go inside it.
