It is possible for the extruder to load fully, but it really depends on the head position, as it'll sometimes hit inside a small space between the tube holder and the inlet.
Another issue I cun into is I've never used Prusa Slicer before, I would rather have used cura at this point if I could, but the generator doesn't work for the MK3 yet.
For reference, with the printer being direct drive, I had to mount the unit lower than the print head and hang the tubes up in the tent this printer came with.
If anyone managed to get this to work with the reborn 2 or ghost 6, as they use the same extruder. Tell me how you did it as I'm having issues just getting it to load sometimes
"It is possible for the extruder to load fully, but it really depends on the head position, as it'll sometimes hit inside a small space between the tube holder and the inlet." Are you saying there is a ledge inside the filament path that it is getting caught on? If so, a real simple trick is to use the end of a 1/4" drill bit and chamfer the inside edge so that it will force the filament to the center. The other option is to use our 1.8mm diameter tube at the opening of the extruder instead of the stock 2.0mm tube. There is a small 85mm long 1.8mm piece in the parts bag... use it in place of the 85mm tube that was already attached to the green Y adapter. That will center it better... but chamfering the inside edge of the path is the best bet...it creates a funnel all the way down to the hot end. As for Cura... I'm still working on that, but dealing with their bugs is killing me. They do not support multiple colors correctly and refuse to fix it. They only support two colors because their printers (Ultimaker) only have two extruders. Seriously, this is the responses we see about these issues, "We have discussed this again with the team. And decided to defer this issue, since this is not an issue for our printers." With that said, I'd highly recommend learning PrusaSlicer, (or it's derivatives) as their responses are always lightening quick fixes and fully embrace multiple extruders/colors. Another option is Kiri:Moto... they use the same code generators as Cura, but don't the bugs that Cura does... and their maintainer is also awesomely fast at fixing any issues you might have. (I guess I should prioritize it above Cura at this point, since it works.) Bill
