This might be a stupid question, but I'm stumped so I'm hoping someone can help.
When I try to push the filament into the 3dChameleon down to just above the y adapter, in most cases it won't push through the 3d Chameleon. Does it need to be in a particular mode to push the filament down to the proper unloaded starting position? Or maybe I'm making some wrong assumptions as to how it should be setup right before I start a print?
You should be loading the filament into each extruder about 1" before the Y adapter. If the filament won't load in, you need to cycle to another color so it'll load. You can always use the automatic loading, by homing before each extruder load... using a 7 pulse load will home it... then any press between 1 and 4 will load that particular extruder... you can then home it again and repeat for the next extruders. Once it's loaded, you should be easily able to push it all the way to the 1" before the Y adapter.
